Prince Harry has been struck by the unexpected death of a close family friend, the 98-year-old Michael Brudenell-Bruce, 8th Marquess of Ailesbury, who died in a tragic accident while heroically attempting to rescue his beloved cat, Honeybun.
The elderly aristocrat fell from his bedroom window in a desperate effort to free the cat, who had become stuck outside. He was discovered by his longtime partner of over 30 years, Teresa Marshall de Paoli, lying in a pool of blood on the concrete patio below, having suffered a fatal head injury.
“It was a freak accident,” Teresa said through tears, recalling the horrifying moment she found him. The incident occurred late Sunday night at his home in Shepherd’s Bush, West London. Emergency services arrived quickly, but tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Initially, authorities investigated the death as suspicious, but it was soon confirmed to be a tragic misadventure.
The loss has left Teresa and his daughter, Lady Kathryn Brudenell-Bruce, devastated.
